New irrigation system at iconic Open Championship venue
MJ Abbott secured the contract to install a new irrigation system at Royal Liverpool Golf Club following a tender and interview process. The irrigation design and tender process was undertaken by Adrian Mortram.
The scope of work included:
- 550m³ Vulcan water storage tank complete with new borehole transfer pipework
- 85m³/hr pump station designed and manufactured by MJ Abbott
- Installation of mainlines pipework and replacement irrigation to greens, approaches, greens surrounds, fairways, high wear championship areas, tees and walkways
- The irrigation equipment manufacturer was Rain Bird, utilising their latest IC technology
- The system includes Rain Bird Nimbus 2 control system, weather station and radio remote control.
MJ Abbott continues to maintain the irrigation system.
